Dog World
Every dog has its day, and for eraser dogs it came when champion show dogs joined the Diener line-up in in the late 1960s or early 1970s. The delightfully realistic series features eight of the most popular breeds of the era, beginning with the Collie, Spaniel, and German Shepherd. At first Diener produced those three breeds in soft rubber with hand-painted details. Later they switched to harder, unpainted versions and expanded the pack to include five more breeds of “blue ribbon champions,” as their packaging proclaimed. The eraser pups may be too small to run with the big dogs, but they’re so doggone cute that they all deserve to win Best in Show!
