Monsters & Outer Space

From the depths of outer space to the darkest corners of the mind came a whole host of Diener eraser creatures. Ranging from funny to frightening, some were educational, like the Mythical Creatures set based on Greek mythology, while others were original Diener characters like the Lovables. But perhaps the most popular were the Space Raiders and Space Creatures lines inspired by popular sci-fi and horror movies and TV shows of the 20th century, proving that scary monsters are always in demand. Fans love little monsters that are small enough to fit in a pocket, but big enough to startle and amuse your friends. Impossible things become possible in the form of these fantastical erasers.

Lovables

Some call them monsters or space aliens, but Diener named them “the Lovables” when they introduced them in 1967. Diener had a bit of mildly risqué fun by giving them names like Jiggle-Lo and coaxing on the package, “Try me… You’ll love me!” There’s a whole lot to love about the Lovables!

Mythical Creatures

Unicorns, dragons and other legendary beings emerged from mythology to materialize as erasers in the Mythical Creatures line. Diener released them around 1980, when they were welcomed eagerly by fans of fantasy adventure. They were sold in many formats, including educational boxed sets.

Space Raiders

Alien robots and starships sent erasers skyrocketing into the Space Age with the 1977 launch of Space Raiders. Soon the Space Raiders became one of Diener’s all-time most popular lines. Each of the eight science-fiction characters had a futuristic name and its own space ship.

Space Creatures

Delightfully frightening “Space Creatures” emerged at Diener in 1979. The eight other-worldly oddities were inspired by sci-fi movies, TV shows and comics of the 1950s and ‘60s. Many were produced in hard plastic and distributed to children in McDonald’s Happy Meals.

Star Trek

Based upon characters from the motion picture Star Trek III, this themed eraser set featured pencil top eraser versions of Bones McCoy, James Kirk, Mr. Spock, Scotty, and Klingon Commander Kruge. They also produced two starship erasers – The USS Enterprise and USS Excellsior.
